the historic gate is exactly the same as it was once built, based on an old foundation and still had photographs. When the tiny gate was exactly built, there is no historical record, probably in the 1650s. Stair Street and its surroundings were crushed on the night of the March 1944 bombing. After the war, the street was closed and a sidewalk followed. When the city government started to rebuild the short and narrow street and removed the soil, it turned out that surprisingly much remains. The former is largely paved with demolition debris and occasionally preserved old walls and cellars. Of particular value, however, is the original needle eye relief with an angel figure, which was deposited in the City Museum when the gate was dismantled.

These are the remains of one of the medieval gates of Tallinn's old town. It currently sits inconspicuously in a small park
